Pago de Otazu (D.O.P. Pago de Otazu) is a premium red wine from Navarra, Spain, crafted from a carefully selected blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are harvested by hand in October, ensuring optimal ripeness and quality.
Vinification begins with cold maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. The wine then undergoes an extended 18-month aging period in French oak, followed by further refinement in the bottle.
This expressive wine embodies the essence of the Otazu terroir, shaped by a unique combination of varied soils and a microclimate influenced by the Atlantic. Its D.O.P. Pago de Otazu single-estate designation underscores the wine’s exclusivity and its faithful reflection of the land from which it originates.
Special Designations: Pago de Otazu holds the prestigious Vino de Pago status—one of only 25 estates in Spain (out of more than 4,400 wineries) to earn this highest classification. This exclusive designation recognizes wines produced entirely on a single estate, reflecting the distinctive character of its unique terroir.
In addition, Pago de Otazu offers a limited-edition "Artist Series", where each year, a selected artist creates a bespoke label design for a small, collectible production of bottles—merging fine wine with contemporary art. Available on Demand.
The label on Pago de Otazu 2022 has been inspired by 'Guardian II', by Xavier Mascaró.
